İsmail Koyuncu is Professor of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and founding director of the National Membrane Technologies Research Centre (MEM-TEK, established 2010). He served as Rector of Istanbul Technical University from 2020 to 2024, and supervises Memb-CAP as host supervisor of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship.
His research covers membrane technologies, water and wastewater treatment, sustainable environmental engineering, and PFAS removal and degradation. He has supervised more than 50 graduate students and serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals.
